Southern California Edison and the Department of Energy Fund $80 Million Irvine Smart Grid Demonstration Project (ISGD).

On August 13th, KNBC-TV Los Angeles broadcasted that Southern California Edison and the Department of Energy are funding an $80 million smart grid project aimed at “analyzing how renewable resources affect the power grid.” KNBC-TV reports that 22 homes in a neighborhood in Irvine are participating in the project. Southern California Edison’s Doug Kim says that he hopes the project provides us “with a good roadmap, a good blueprint of how to make our broader grid much smarter to help the customers’ needs.”

Much of the ISGD project takes place on the campus of UC Irvine and within University Hills in particular.  You can watch the video here:  http://www.nbclosangeles.com/on-air/as-seen-on/271168681.html
